Integrated Engineering Services (IES)

QinetiQ’s Integrated Engineering Services (IES) has been operating Defence Science and Technology Group’s Scientific Engineering Facility at Fishermans Bend since 2010. They provide engineering capabilities such as mechanical design and manufacture, electrical design and manufacture and applied imaging. The IES team needed a video that summarised their capabilities and represented them in a professional way. The aim of the video was to promote IES capabilities to high level Defence and Industry delegates at the QinetiQ stand at the 2019 Avalon International Airshow andAerospace & Defence Exposition.

I worked together with a videographer based in Melbourne who shot all the raw footage: Staff interviews and b-roll. The approach to obtaining the footage was informal and there was no script provided to the staff interviewed. The challenge was to match up the b-roll to what they were saying after the fact. It was important that staff were flexible in their availability and equipment readily accessible in order to shoot any additional footage needed for this project.

The storyboard serves as a guide to the flow of the video. Footage was moved and/or replaced in the final cut.
